doh

So I had another highbrow, mentally challenging contemporary music concert today and 6 hours of rehearsals before that....Phew. In a break we were messing about with some playdoh (who knows where it came from) and we made these lovely little characters. Mine is the frog. What I love about this photo is that despite the fact I took it on my phone and did not 'compose' it in any way it looks to me so much like a still from a cool little animation adventure. It looks like the three intrepid doughy explorers have just landed their flying carpets on an icy lake in the middle of mountainous terrain on a clear blue day.... Come on art therapy girl - tell me something about what these little folk might be representing???

Hmmm...it seems like the frog is lecturing the horse about something, but the frog is really just being cocky, and the bird knows that the frog is just trying to be all that, but the horse is taking him seriously.

No offence to your friends because their creatures are cool too (in fact I am impressed at the high quality of your play-doh sculpting!) but the frog is without a doubt the most expressive. To me it says glazed exhaustion, freaked-out frazzled-ness and possible a slight whiff of despair!

HA ha! I see all of your thoughts...particularly yours jess...I did the expression as you described it and laughed out loud. I think there is less animation in the frog's face than it seems at first. I think his(?) eyes look blank and his open mouth is almost a sign of being in a comatose-like state. Perhaps I am just very tired. However I did exaggerate the features consciously and for some reason putting a tongue in was of some peculiar importance to me....kind of naughty.
I love making things.
