Gastric Flu. Ugh. First the poor little baby bird, then me, now her daddy too. I have sat up at night trying to calm her whilst trying to be subtly sick over the arm of the rocking chair. Her daddy just tried to drive us all home and had to stop on the hard shoulder of the motorway to get out of the car to be sick but he fainted instead. The baby bird WAS sick though so through my tears of pure overwhelmedness I had to clean her up, get my husband back into the car and drive us home whilst feeling almost dead with my own nausea/fever/tiredness. Now I am washing all the clothes while they are both sleeping....how do single parents manage????

Hello Raven! Long time no blogging for me and I return to your world to discover this terrible experience - one of life's dramatic moments which show how good humans are at surviving and also the miracle of being a parent - being 'subtly sick' while nursing your baby is an unimaginable thing for a non-parent with flu, and it's completely beautiful to see that unselfishness, that strength which comes from responsibility for another little human being. But poor you, poor bird family! I'm very happy that the next post shows baby bird looking well, with her starburst, and looking so grown up! She is growing up so fast!
